7 rumors about LAGUR
Over time, we have encountered many strange misunderstandings and misconceptions about how LAGUR works, and what effect the system has. Here we collect seven of the most common myths about LAGUR and explains why they don't hold water!
Story 1: LAGUR is water softening !
No, LAGUR fundamentally different from water softening plants by not reducing the lime content of the water. This lowers LAGUR nor the hardness of the water, even if it is experienced that way.
You only get softer water with a water softening plants by using salt in the process. The correct term for water softening plants are ion exchange systems. They work by means of ion exchange, as the water runs down over an ion exchange mass, which attracts and binds calcium. This process requires the use of salt for regeneration and increases the water's sodium (salt) content, which we already consume too much of according to health recommendations.
LAGUR does not require the addition of salt and thus does not increase the sodium content, but preserves the taste and natural chemical composition of natural water.
Story 2: One LAGUR -plants are expensive to operate!
No, we don't think so! LAGUR HOME uses 12W, equivalent to approx. 250 DKK per year and comes with a five-year warranty. If you rent the system, ownership automatically passes to you after five years. The system is maintenance-free, as, unlike conventional water softening plants does not require cleaning or refilling with salt, and you do not need a service agreement.
In comparison, a regular ion exchange system, in addition to electricity, typically uses one kilogram of salt per 1,000 liters of water. That doesn't sound like much, but an average apartment uses 80 cubic meters of water per year, so that works out to 80 kilograms of salt per apartment. If there are 50 apartments, that works out to 4 tons of salt.
IN LAGUR PRO for housing associations and companies, where one system can treat water for the entire building, the control box uses approximately 1 kW per day, corresponding to approximately DKK 900 per year.
Myth 3: You can't minimize limescale problems without chemistry!

But it is of course individual whether a change in the taste of the water is experienced negatively or positively.

Story 6: When LAGUR retains the lime content, the deposits are the same!

This reduces turbulence in the water and ensures smoother flow and better water pressure.
Many pipe bursts are caused by turbulence and increased pressure in places with large irregularities tearing loose larger limescale plugs. This exposes holes in the pipe created by galvanic corrosion and causes further bursting. Due to the changed structure of the lime from crystals to granules, the lime settles in LAGUR -water does not settle on the inside of the pipe, as the untreated water did.
Instead, the flow of LAGUR -treated water acts like fine sandpaper against the limescale formations on the inside of the pipe. The most prominent irregularities are slowly sanded away first, and the more the irregularities are removed, the better and more stable the water flow becomes. And thus even more is sanded away limescale away on the inside.
