Earth Overshoot Day
Earth Overshoot Day falls this year on August 2, when the world has exhausted the Earth's "allocated" resources for 2023.
IN LAGUR We work every day to ensure that consumers have water that is both free from limescale problems and at the same time is healthy, natural and tasty thanks to facilities that are manufactured with a minimal CO2 footprint.
That the world's collective drain on the planet's resources is out of proportion to the resources available is something we are reminded of every year on the so-called Earth Overshoot Day calculated by the organization Global Footprint Network.
Earth Overshoot Day falls this year on August 2, when the world has exhausted the Earth's "allocated" resources for 2023, according to the WWF World Wildlife Fund .
This means that with the world's resource consumption from August 3rd and the rest of the year, the Earth's ecosystems will need correspondingly longer than a year to regenerate the natural resources such as water, fish and raw materials, etc. that will be used in 2023.
In recent years, Earth Overshoot Day has been at the end of July and the beginning of August – according to WWF, a sign that we have stopped the growth in the footprint from our consumption.
But we are still far from reversing the trend.
If we are to achieve the UN goal of reducing global CO2 emissions by 43 percent by 2030 compared to 2010, it will require us to postpone Earth Overshoot Day by 19 days each year for the next seven years.
