Social responsibility according to LAGUR
When we at LAGUR takes social responsibility, we also take responsibility for our own mission and our own history.
We must behave properly. Both people and companies. But you would think that the former would come more naturally, because when we humans meet and talk to each other, we don't spend energy investigating whether we each comply with laws and norms. We assume that we do.
When we introduce ourselves as private individuals, we don't first spend time establishing that we are, of course, law-abiding individuals.
With companies, the situation is different. They can no longer afford to simply assume that the market takes them for granted. They must actively earn their trust.
Responsibility must be communicated responsibly
Laws, regulations, and demands from customers who have several manufacturers of the same product or solution to choose from, increasingly require honesty from companies, which today are expected to talk about the good they do. That they follow the law—and perhaps even do more good than the letter of the law requires of them.
This is a development that we at LAGUR can only support. Firstly, because it generally motivates companies to act more responsibly. Secondly, because it promotes the development of products that are inherently responsible and good for the world, making it easier for manufacturers to communicate the characteristics and benefits of their products with naturalness, authenticity, and integrity.
We must not take good water for granted.
At LAGUR, we have made this task as easy as possible because, ever since our founding in 2014, our mission has been to reduce limescale problems without using chemicals while keeping natural and healthy water—in the form of the high water quality that we are blessed with here in Denmark. And we must never sit back and take our high water quality granted.
When we in LAGUR By taking social responsibility, we also take responsibility for our own mission and our own history.
Water is a condition for life
Thus, LAGUR's name and logo are no coincidence. The word LAGUR– and many variations thereof – means water in the runic language.
In addition to being the sign for the sound 'L', our logo is the common symbol for water in the runic alphabets used in Nordic and Germanic culture from the 2nd century AD and the next 1,000 years or so. The sign for water was one of just 16-19 runes in the Viking runic alphabet. Water was important. Just like us, our ancestors knew that water was a condition for life. Today, we also know scientifically that the presence of liquid water has been crucial for the emergence of life, and no matter where on Earth we find examples of life, water is present.
We must take good care of our water.
Water comes from the ground where we stand, live, and work, and LAGUR water treatment plant is both developed and manufactured in Denmark.
At the same time, it is our philosophy at LAGUR that healthy water is perfect in many ways just as it is. That is why we must also do what we can to take care of it.
From a health perspective, the calcium content is a sign of quality, because water collects many minerals on its way down through the soil layers along with limescale . That is why LAGUR doesn't remove the calcium, but simply changes its form.
We are called, what we are
LAGUR is synonymous with natural, chemical-free, healthy, local water that is treated with respect. Just as it has always been done here in our part of the world. That is why we think the name LAGUR fits us perfectly. It says who we are.
But just like any other company, we still have to work hard to act as responsibly and correctly as possible. We owe this to our many existing customers—and those who have yet to discover that limescale problems in everyday life can easily be combated without the use of chemicals.
We must do as we say.
Therefore, we have of course also seized the opportunities of our time to document our company's actions and behavior using climate accounting, ESG reports and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
This gives our customers and partners good tools to keep us on track with what we say we will do.
In this menu item, you can read much more about how we at LAGUR work to reduce our carbon footprint and make our production and operations as responsible as possible in terms of the parameters that matter for the well-being of people and the planet.
Longer lifespan for our materials
For us, it is important to utilize the materials we have already put into operation. Our facilities are designed to last for many years, so it makes sense to take them back, review them and prepare them for a new period of use when they continue to function as intended.
We do this through Refurbish, where used equipment is extended in life instead of being discarded. In this way, we reduce the amount of electronic waste and the need to produce new equipment.
