Avoid limescale problems with sustainable water treatment for cooperative and owner associations

With a chemical-free water treatment solution from LAGUR® installed on the property's main water pipe, all members of the housing association can enjoy healthy drinking water while minimising the hassle of limescale when cleaning.

For the sake of the residents and the environment

LAGUR® is the obvious water treatment solution for housing associations that care about the environment and do not want to let the desire for comfort compromise the well-being of the planet.

LAGUR® was developed to replace conventional chemical water softening, e.g. with the addition of salt. That is why our water treatment plant doesn't alter the chemistry of the water, its taste, or its limescale mineral content – for the benefit of both residents and the environment.

LAGUR® makes it cheaper and easier to clean with Swan-labeled products without chemicals. Ordinary chemical cleaning agents gradually corrode the joints, so they will eventually need to be renovated or replaced.

LAGUR® does not remove limescale, but simply changes its form, because limescale is important for our water quality health. Limescale is healthy in itself, and along with calcium, it contains many healthy minerals that we also need. Not least, our bones and teeth benefit every day from the natural supply of the limescale minerals we get through water.

Cheap and maintenance-free

For housing associations that purchase a water treatment plant from LAGUR®, the payback period is typically less than one year – and very rarely more than two years. Housing associations can also choose to lease a plant from LAGUR®. They typically achieve immediate savings of between 25 and 50 percent.

The rent is monthly and can always be terminated with 30 days' notice. After five years, the lease agreement automatically expires and ownership of the water treatment plant from LAGUR® is transferred to the renter.

LAGUR® consists of a half-meter pipe installed after the main water meter and is connected to a control unit that uses approximately 1 kW per day, corresponding to approximately $0.35.

When the cost of acquisition is deducted, a conservatively estimated saving amounts to a minimum of 40,000 kroner per year in an association with 50 rentals with two people in each apartment.

LAGUR® -customers experience fewer service hours on hot water tanks, heat exchangers and other installations, and properties that have water pressure problems typically notice significant improvements a few months after installation of LAGUR® because there is less turbulence in the pipes. LAGUR® requires neither service nor maintenance, and buyers of LAGUR® gets a 10 year warranty.

Healthy water in healthy homes

LAGUR's approach to water treatment  is completely different from conventional decentralised ion exchange systems, also known as water softening plant manufacturers, which reduce water hardness by removing limescale.

In the process, they use salt, thereby increasing the water's sodium content, which we already consume too much of according to health recommendations.

At LAGUR , we acknowledge that limescale be a nuisance in everyday life, but we are not declaring war on it. We are simply changing its form so that it does not adhere to fixtures and shower stalls.

Limescale in the water is a sign of good health, because the calcium typically contains many healthy minerals that are also beneficial to us. And we should remember this when we plan, build, and furnish our new homes with an emphasis on sustainable solutions.
