limescale IN THE BATHROOM
LAGUR does not remove the limescale in your bathroom, but makes your cleaning much easier. Read here how.
WHY IS THIS COMING? limescale ?
limescale deposits occurs in the bathroom as a result of hard water containing minerals, especially calcium and magnesium. When the water evaporates, it leaves behind limescale on surfaces such as tiles, shower heads and faucets. This process occurs especially in areas with high water hardness, where the concentration of minerals in the water is high.
LAGUR : CHEMICAL-FREE ALTERNATIVE TO water softening
LAGUR is the chemical-free alternative to water softening plants , which can reduce the lime content in the water through a chemical process with salt, where calcium and magnesium are replaced with sodium. However, you will still experience limescale deposits with a water softening plants This is because the water has not become completely limescale-free, but has simply had its hardness levels reduced. For example, if the hardness level in your water has been reduced from 20 dH to 10-14 dH, you will still experience limescale problems because the structure of the lime in the water has not changed.
WITH LAGUR WILL THERE BE A DIFFERENCE? limescale
In short: water softening plants removes some of the limescale, but does not change the the structure of limescale . LAGUR preserves all the healthy limescale in the water, but changes its structure. LAGUR transforms the lime crystals into round granules that do not adhere as well to surfaces. limescale from water treated with LAGUR is therefore easier to wipe off and remove. In addition to deposits from the remaining limescale Softened water can also still leave stains from sodium and other minerals.
HOW CAN YOU REMOVE LIMESCALE EFFECTIVELY?
limescale deposits can be removed with acidic cleaning agents such as vinegar or citric acid. These products dissolve the limescale through a chemical reaction where the acid breaks down the limescale. How often you need to descale depends on the hardness of your water, but for most people, weekly or monthly cleaning of tiles and fittings will be sufficient. If you also scrape and wipe your shower enclosure after every shower, you will typically find that limescale from LAGUR -treated water can be removed with a cloth once it has dried and settled as a form of dust. This makes your more thorough cleaning easier to do.
BUT ACID IS NOT GOOD FOR THE GROUTS
However, acidic cleaners can be harmful to grout as they can break down the cement over time. If the grout is regularly exposed to acid, it can lose its integrity and become porous. It is therefore important to saturate the grout with water before using acidic cleaners and rinse thoroughly with water when you are finished. Alternatively, you can use a mixture of water and vinegar, which is a natural acid. However, vinegar will also break down cement-based grout and silicone grout over time, although the method is more gentle.
A STEAMING ALTERNATIVE TO CHEMICALS
Steam cleaners can also be effective as they can loosen limescale deposits , dirt and mold without the use of chemicals. However, be aware that some cement-based grouts can be porous. Using steam at high heat or very high pressure for a long time can cause the grout to wear down or come loose. Therefore, it is best to use a steam cleaner with moderate pressure and not hold it in one place for too long.
