This is our footprint on the world: LAGUR's latest ESG report and climate accounting
What does it mean to work with sustainability as a company? In our latest ESG report and climate report, you can read how we at LAGUR working for greener operations and recyclability at all levels.
LAGUrs ESG Report 2024
How do we combat limescale in a responsible and sustainable way – without harming the quality of the water or the environment around us? That question is at the heart of everything we work with at LAGUR .
With the publication of our latest ESG report and climate account for 2023-24, we provide partners and other interested parties with a thorough insight into how we work towards greater sustainability – both in practice and in principle.
The report shows how our products and the way we do business contribute positively to both the climate, the environment and society – and where we can still improve.
Double materiality analysis
In order to report meaningfully – and work strategically with what really matters – we have conducted a so-called double materiality analysis.
It sounds technical, but it's essentially about finding out where our business impacts the world the most, and where the world's developments impact our business the most.
We have assessed our impact in areas such as climate, water, consumption, employees and governance – and measured them against both society's interests and our own economic reality.
The result is a prioritized mapping of the most important ESG themes, which forms the basis for our objectives and reporting.
The analysis broadly follows the new EU Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This means that we don't just guess – we measure, weigh and prioritize.
The ESG report is important for our partners
Although we are not required to report under the CSRD Directive, we have chosen to go ahead and prepare a thorough and transparent ESG report.
We do this not only for our own sake - but also for our partners and customers, who are increasingly demanding documentation of responsible operation and environmental considerations.
Several of our partners work with sustainability themselves and must be able to show how their suppliers contribute to climate goals, circular economy and social responsibility.
Our ESG report makes it possible to include LAGUR 's data directly into their own climate accounts and reporting systems – including through our climate data and the EPD ( Environmental Product Declaration ) for our products.
In short: We make ourselves available to those who need to be able to document their value chain and their purchases.
Lime-free everyday life without chemicals
IN LAGUR We have developed a technology that changes the structure of limescale , so that it does not stick - without removing the lime from the water and without adding chemicals, salt or anything else that changes the composition of the water.
Vores anlæg – både HOME og PRO – bygger på elektromagnetisk teknologi, der bruger minimalt med strøm (henholdsvis <0,3 kWh og 1 kWh per dag), og de er helt vedligeholdelsesfri.
The technology reduces the need for cleaning agents and makes it easier to keep installations and surfaces limescale-free. This is good for both the user and the environment.
CO2: The goal is to do more good than harm
In this year's climate report, we have calculated our total CO2 emissions at 314 tons.
It is distributed as follows:
- Scope 1 (own operation): 0.55 tonnes
- Scope 2 (electricity & heat): 1.34 tons
- Scope 3 (materials, production, transport): 312 tons
The greatest climate impact lies in the materials and processes needed to manufacture our products.
Our goal is that our products save more CO2 than they emit over their lifetime. To document this, we have had EPDs prepared for both HOME and PRO .
Designed for recycling - and to last
We design our products with recycling and longevity in mind.
Today, 99.5% of the materials in HOME model and 99.9% in PRO -the model is reusable.
We use recycled plastic and aluminum in the control boxes, and all packaging for HOME The model is now made from recycled cardboard.
EPS has been removed, and we are working on changing the packaging for PRO model. It is an important part of our contribution to the circular economy.
Our contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The UN Sustainable Development Goals are an important guideline for our work. We focus in particular on the following:
Goal 6 – Clean water and sanitation
Our system reduces the need for cleaning agents and soap because limescale does not settle. At the same time, we do not emit any salt or foreign substances, like traditional systems. water softening plants do.
Goal 12 – Responsible consumption and production
All our products are designed to be disassembled and reused. They have no wearing parts, require no maintenance, and extend the life of installations.
Goal 13 – Climate action
Our goal is to ensure that over time our plants save more CO2 than they cost to produce. We use green electricity in production, have minimal transportation and are constantly developing more energy-efficient solutions.
Goal 14 – Life in the ocean
We do not emit salt or chemicals. This means that our technology does not burden the marine environment – on the contrary, we protect the water cycle. This is also why we see ourselves as a sustainable alternative to water softening plants .
Social responsibility and transparency
We have a small, permanent team of seven employees, all of whom work in a safe and flexible environment. We have:
- 100% collective agreement coverage
- 0% gender pay gap
- 4.5 days of sick leave per full-time employee
- 99% customer satisfaction
Our suppliers are local and Danish, and we work closely together to develop and improve both processes and products. Our board and employees meet primarily online to reduce transportation and CO2 emissions, and our internal policies for sustainability and anti-corruption are an integrated part of everyday life.
Our next steps - the goals for 2025
We must not allow ourselves to rest on our laurels. Here are our most important goals for the coming year:
- Replace the last EPS in the packaging with cardboard
- Remove the last 0.5% of non-recyclable materials in HOME the model
- Develop a standby function that reduces power consumption and wear
- Increase awareness of the possibility of extended warranty and the REFURBISH scheme
- Collect activity-based data from suppliers for more accurate climate accounting
- Prepare a scientific analysis comparing magnetic water treatment with other methods.
Our promise: clean water with care
We believe that it is possible to create cleaner homes, healthier installations and a greener world – without compromising water quality.
With our products, both private individuals, companies and housing associations can take a step in the right direction.
