TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEART - REMOVE THE SALT FROM THE TABLE AND THE WATER
Opposite water softening plants leaves behind LAGUR no salt in your water. It is good for your health, which today is burdened by excessive amounts of salt, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
More than half of all Danes over the age of 55 are affected by cardiovascular disease. This corresponds to just over 56,000 people per year. More than half a million Danes have cardiovascular disease. 12,000 of them die.
Why is this interesting for LAGUR – and our customers? Because one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease is the Danes' high salt intake, and in contrast to conventional water softening plants increases a chemical-free LAGUR -do not add salt to the water you get into your home and out of your tap.
It's more sustainable – both for your household's energy supply and your health.
Much more salt than recommended
There is a direct correlation between salt intake and high blood pressure, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Danes consume an average of 10 grams of salt per year, which is far too much. 9 out of 10 Danes consume more salt than recommended.
According to the Danish Heart Association and other experts, a reduction in salt intake will lower blood pressure in the population and significantly reduce the incidence of cardiovascular diseases and deaths caused by them.
We can get by with one and a half grams
Or as professor and chief physician in heart diseases at Rigshospitalet Henning Bundgaard explained to Peter Qvortrup Geisling in December 2022 in the podcast Lægens Bord on DR :
“The recommendation is that we should not have more than 5 grams, and that we can actually get by with 1.5 grams.”
According to Henning Bundgaard, it has been estimated that almost half of the million Danes who have high blood pressure would have normal blood pressure if we reduced our salt intake on average by just three grams – that is, not by getting down to the recommended amount, but just by getting close to it.
Remove salt from the table and water
The chemical name for table salt and the salt left in tap water treated with a conventional water treatment plant , is sodium chloride (NaCl). This type of salt is used in our food, to soften tap water, and to clear roads in winter, and it can come from both the sea and salt mines.
But in the human body, all these forms of salt are treated the same – and it affects our health if we get too much.
In Lægens Bord, Henning Bundgaard recommends that – just as many restaurants have started to do – you remove salt from the table, because the often highly processed food we typically consume already has large amounts of salt added.
Our bodies are not made for the salt we consume.
The problem is that the sodium salt we consume is not natural to humans.
According to Henning Bundgaard, we humans were born and accustomed to life on a savannah where there was no or very little natural salt.
Back then, we might have consumed a little of the so-called potassium salt, but in our modern lives, we consume more than ample amounts of table salt – or sodium salt, which is also what is left in the tap water by conventional taps. water softening plants , which uses salt pellets in the process.
Reduce your salt consumption and treat your heart
So what can we do to pamper our hearts – and prevent the risk of cardiovascular disease?
We should not smoke, we should exercise, we should eat healthy, green and varied food – and we should reduce our salt intake.
It can LAGUR help you.
